Jan Ryherd is an American journalist working with KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a midday meteorologist. She joined the KCRG-TV9 News team in August 2020.

Ryherd studied at Webster City High School, where she graduated with a High School diploma. He then joined Iowa State University from 2013 to 2017 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences. While in college she was part of the CINWA (Central Iowa National Weather Association) chapter and the AMS (American Meteorological Society) ISU student chapter. She also participated in the school’s weather report called ”Cy’s Eyes on the Skies.” In the program, Ryherd held the roles of producer and director.

Ryherd has covered several extreme weather events such as the August 2020 derecho. In 2021, she earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. Ryherd is very active in volunteering in her community, is an advocate for STEM, and is often motivating young women to pursue their science dreams.
