Pauley attended Warren Central High School in Indianapolis where she earned her Diploma in General education. While there, she became a speech and debate champion and placed first in the Girls’ Extemporaneous Speaking division of the National Forensic League in Indiana. From there, she had to further her education. She joined Indiana University, majoring in political science. During her time there, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma where she sang with the sorority jug band, the Kappa Pickers. In 1972, Pauley graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.

She anchors “CBS Sunday Morning.” During her tenure at CBS News, she conducted an interview with the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, a fast motorcycle ride with rock star John Mellencamp, the only TV interview with David Letterman about his retirement from late-night television, a joint interview with then vice president-elect Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, as well as the first television interview with Hillary Rodham Clinton following her loss in the 2016 election.

Prior to joining the CBS News team, she was a familiar face on morning, daytime, and primetime television. Her network television career started as a co-host of NBC’s “Today” show in 1976. While there, she spent a decade as the anchor of “Dateline NBC,” and 13 years on the morning broadcast starting in 1992. In  2004, she was the host of the syndicated daytime series, “The Jane Pauley Show.” A longtime advocate for children’s health and education, Pauley is also a highly-regarded spokesperson for mental health.

In addition to that, she lent her name to a facility in collaboration between the Community Health Network and the Metropolitan School District of Warren Township, Indiana, the Jane Pauley Community Health Center in 2009. The center serves local communities, including students and their families, regardless of insurance or income, with an emphasis on integrating medical, dental, and behavioral health. There are 15 centers, most on the east side of Indianapolis where she grew up.
