Janet Shamlian is an American Emmy Award-winning Correspondent, contributor, and news anchor working for CBS News. She joined the network in July 2019 as a Correspondent.

Shamlian attended Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois where she earned her Diploma in General Education. From there, she had to further her education. She joined the University of Missouri School of Journalism to pursue her career course. After completing her studies there, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. While in college, she was the commencement speaker in 2016.

Prior to joining the CBS News team, she worked for NBC News for a decade. During her working time there, she reported for “Today,” “NBC Nightly News” and MSNBC.

Not long ago she covered Gilroy Garlic Festival, the California fires, and the mass shooting at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart for CBS News. Prior to that, she was on the ground in Florida covering the tornado that devastated Moore, Okla, Hurricane Katrina, and the Pulse Nightclub massacre.
In addition to that, she was the first American journalist on the scene of the 2016 Bastille Day terror attack in Nice, France. In October 2016, Shamlian interviewed Arianne Zucker, the actress who Donald Trump made suggestive comments in an Access Hollywood video recorded in 2005.
Her career also took her to Chicago to work for WBBM-TV, a CBS station. While there, she served the station as a reporter. She also worked for KHOU-TV, a CBS affiliate in Houston. In addition to that, she worked at KPRC-TV in Houston. During her working time there, she served the station as a weekend news anchor. Her journalism career job began in Grand Rapids working for WOOD-TV. During her teenage, she was a competitive figure skater.
