Jennifer Horbelt Biography

Jennifer Horbelt is an American anchor working at WPSD-TV where she serves as the co-anchor of the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm newscast alongside Todd Faulkner. She joined WPSD-TV in June 2014, after previously working at KOAA-TV.

In 2003, Horbelt joined the University of Tennessee at Martin where she graduated in 2007, with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and theater. Later in 2017, she rejoined the University of Tennessee at Martin where she earned her master’s degree in strategic communications in 2019.

Horbelt works at WPSD-TV where she serves as the co-anchor of the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm newscasts. Houston, Texas is her native home and her family relocated to Memphis while she was in high school. She started her career at WPSD while she still attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and began as an intern a reporter, and to evening anchor.

Over the years, she has covered a wide range of stories from Winter Storm ’09 to the murder trials and sentencings in the Jessica Currin murder case. Jennifer took up a job in 2001, in Colorado Springs at NBC affiliate KOAA News 5 where she served as an anchor and reporter. In addition, while she worked at KOAA News 5, she took part in the coverage of the Broncos’ Super Bowl run from New Jersey/New York City,  the Aurora Theater Shooting, Jimmy Fallon prior to his big takeover of The Tonight Show, interviewed President Obama during his campaign run in 2012, and many massive wildfires such as; the Black Forest fires and the Waldo Canyon,

Furthermore, after working at News 5 for three years, she returns to the area she considers home together with her family and since 2014, she has been working at WPSD. While working at WPSD, she has reported on a number of major stories impacting the area such as; the 20th anniversary of the Heath High School shooting which included interviews with Bill Bond and Missy Jenkins, a tornado hitting Mayfield, and the 2018 shooting at Marshall County High School. In addition,  during Horbelt’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her son and volunteering with organizations such as the United Way and the Purchase Area Sexual Assault & Child Advocacy Center.
