Jessica Janner Castro is an American journalist currently working as the Evening News Anchor at KING 5 News. She joined the KING 5 team in November 2019.

She attended the University of Southern California for her undergraduate studies, where she majored in Broadcast Journalism at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She also holds a Master’s Degree in National Security and International Relations. She also holds a Master of Science degree in National Security and International Affairs from American Military University.

She previously worked in San Francisco, where she anchored the morning newscast at Disney/ABC-owned and operated station KGO-TV. She was previously an anchor at KTNV-TV in Las Vegas and KAMR-TV in Amarillo, Texas. She has spent the majority of her life on the West Coast of the United States. When she was about seven years old, her family relocated to Southern California. She was raised in a multilingual household and is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.

She has always been active in her communities and has worked with a variety of volunteer organizations. She has volunteered for non-profit organizations such as Girls on the Run, Dress for Success, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and CASA for Children. She enjoys being outside and I am excited to explore the beautiful Evergreen State. She enjoys tennis, sailing, hiking, swimming, cycling, Latin dancing, and painting when she is not looking for great news stories. She also enjoys traveling and has visited over 20 countries.

As a result of that company’s merger with Belo, KING and other King Broadcasting stations later became Belo properties. Dorothy Bullitt, the station’s long-time owner, died in June 1989. In 1992, King Broadcasting was sold to The Providence Journal Company. The stations’ assets have since been absorbed by Comcast. KGW radio and television in Portland, KREM-TV in Spokane, KTVB in Boise, KHNL-TV and KFVE in Honolulu, and KYA/KOIT radio in San Francisco were among the stations. King Broadcasting previously owned King Video cable, the assets of which have since been absorbed by Comcast.
