Castro serves as the Evening News Anchor at KING 5 News. She previously worked in San Francisco, where she anchored the morning newscast at Disney/ABC-owned and operated station KGO-TV. Janner Castro was previously an anchor at KTNV-TV in Las Vegas and KAMR-TV in Amarillo, Texas. She has spent the majority of her life on the West Coast of the United States. When she was about seven years old, her family relocated to Southern California. She was raised in a multilingual household and is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.

She has volunteered for non-profit organizations such as Girls on the Run, Dress for Success, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and CASA for Children.
