Jim Cantore is an American award-winning meteorologist working for The Weather Channel serving as an On-Camera Meteorologist and Co-Host of AMHQ. He joined The Weather Channel in 1986.

Cantore is a meteorologist who joined The Weather Channel immediately after he graduated from Lyndon State College. Ever since he started his career, he has managed to enclose different weather events that hit the headline. For instance, he reported on NASA launches, the Winter X Games, the Olympics, and PGA tournaments. Additionally, he also created the Fall Foliage Forecast. He has also managed to enclose Hurricanes Irma, Dorian, Katrina, and Sandy. It’s his work in the midst of those storms that have made him the meteorologist his viewers hate to see coming – if Cantore is in town, it means it’s time for everyone else to leave.

Cantore also holds the AMS Television Seal of Approval and received the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration David S. Johnson Award in 2003. He was also elected a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society in 2014. In 2018, he was presented with an honorary doctorate from Lyndon State College and was inducted into the Weather Hall of Fame at the National Weather Museum and Science Center. He also received a News and Documentary Emmy ® for his role in The Weather Channel’s Immersive Mixed Reality storytelling which depicted the dangers of tornadoes.

Cantore is also involved with charitable work for FRAXA, the Fragile X Research Foundation, and the Parkinson’s Unity Walk. He also contributes his time to Make-a-Wish Foundation events around the country and he has also served as a celebrity cabinet member with the American Red Cross. Whenever he is not working he enjoys spending time with his children as well as the outdoors activities.
