John Harwood Education
Harwood went to Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School where he attained his high school diploma. He, later on, joined Duke University where he studied history and economics, and later graduated magna cum laude in 1978.

Harwood previously worked at CNN and CNBC where he served as a White House Correspondent at CNN from February 2021 till his departure in September 2022. During his time on CNBC, he served as an editor and wrote: “The Caucus” which was aired weekly on Monday about Washington policy and politics. Prior to joining CNN and CNBC, he worked at The Wall Street Journal where he served as a writer.
Harwood went to South Africa and enclosed the developments that were taking place in the final years of apartheid. From 1989 to 1990, he was at Harvard University where he was a Nieman Fellow. In 1991, he started working as a White House correspondent for the Wall Street Journal. In this role, he enclosed quite a good number of the George H. W. Bush administration. In 1997, he started working as a Capitol Hill correspondent, chief political correspondent, and political editor. In 2006, he worked at CNBC where he served as a chief Washington correspondent.
Harwood also makes appearances on a public affairs program called Washington Week on PBS which was previously hosted by Gwen Ifill, MSNBC’s Morning Joe, and NBC’s Meet the Press. On October 28, 2015, he worked as a moderator for the Republican primary presidential debate on CNBC. He was later on criticized for his work as a moderator by the media and the debate candidates.
On February 6, 2020, he was furthermore criticized after he claimed that former President Donald Trump was in “deep psychological distress.” On 2 September 2022, he publicized that he would be leaving CNN and did not share the information about his next stop.
