John Patrick Biography
John Patrick is an American Meteorologist working with ABC7 News at Waterman Broadcasting where he serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. He also works as an Evening Meteorologist for the 6, 7 & 11 PM News on WZVN-TV. Patrick joined the station in the month of April 2011.
John Patrick Education
JP graduated from Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program in 2002 and holds the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal as well as the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval. JP was the first Southwest Florida TV meteorologist to hold both seals.

Patrick works with ABC7 News where she serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. He happens to be Southwest Florida’s most experienced meteorologist and oversees weather product that is seen on ABC7 News daily. He states that the loyal ABC7 viewers trusted him to guide them through Hurricane Irma on September 10th, 2017. This was as it made landfall on Marco Island and tracked north through the entire ABC7 viewing area.
Under his leadership, the ABC7 Forecast became the only weather forecast certified as “Southwest Florida’s Most Accurate” by a third-party company known as WeatheRate. As of March 2021, the ABC7 team holds the WeatheRate seal of accuracy for the eighth year in a row. He also states that for the sixth year in a row, the ABC7 WeathRate score is the most accurate in the entire state of Florida.
John Patrick has been with ABC7 since April 2005. During his time in Southwest Florida, JP was nominated twice for an Emmy Award and won the Associated Press’ “Best Weathercast” 1st Place award each year from 2008 thru 2013, plus 2015 and 2016. That’s a total of 8 times! He also won second place in 2007 and 2014.
Away from work, he enjoys spending time on the beaches, restaurants of Southwest Florida, and shopping. He can also be found at one of the gorgeous golf courses in Southwest Florida. Asides from that, he also enjoys spending his time cooking in the kitchen, especially Italian food. Among the first things he did to his house was to remodel the kitchen from top to bottom.
