John Rodgers Biography

John Rodgers is an American anchor working at WRIC-TV where he serves as the co-anchor of Good Morning Richmond. He joined the WRIC TV/8 ABC team in January 2020, after previously working at WFLA. 

John Rodgers Career

Rodgers works for WRIC News serving the station as a Morning Co-Anchor. Prior to joining WRIC, he worked at WFLA in Tampa, Florida for almost seven years as a fill-in anchor and Sarasota bureau reporter. He has also worked at WALA in Mobile, Alabama where he served as a fill-in anchor and reporter.

John relocated to Tallahassee, Florida where he worked at WCTV as a weekend anchor/ reporter. In addition, he witnessed the 2009 Obama inauguration that took place in Washington D.C and was on the front lines when oil washed ashore during the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Furthermore, he has covered many tornadoes, hurricanes, the Parkland massacre, the FSU shooting, and tropical storms. Over the years, he interviewed political figures such as John McCain and sports figures like Shaquille O’Neal and Nick Saban.

He can recall meeting Neil Armstrong and having an interview with Gene Cernan who was the last man to walk on the moon. In 2004, Rodgers joined Florida State University where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in mass media and journalism in 2008.
