Julie Newman Biography

Julie Newman is an American vice president and general manager of Blue Ridge PBS(PBS Appalachia Virginia) since she joined the team in June 2022. Previously she worked at WCYB from 2012 to July 2022, where she served as the 5, 6, and 11 pm anchor.

Julie Newman Career

Newman is known for working for WCYB/WEMT/CW4 serving the team as a News Anchor till July 2022. Julie graduated proudly from Bruton High School and later joined the college at Christopher Newport University in Newport where she studied mass communications. Later on, she was able to secure her first job at WVEC in Norfolk where she served as a reporter and production assistant.

Later on, she worked at News Center 7 from 2001 to 2003, and while she was at the station, she news anchor and managing editor. In addition, she has also worked at News 10 Now for a year and while she was at the station, she served as a news anchor.

Furthermore, she returned to Virginia after beginning a family to anchor for WSET in Roanoke/Lynchburg. You may have seen Julie on Blue Ridge PBS in the Tri-Cities; as Executive Producer and Host, she won 15 states, national, and local accolades for the station, including four Emmys.
