Burch considers herself to be a Mississippi girl. She was born in Tampa, Florida, and has lived in nine different places including Maine. She states that her interest in weather started with Hurricane Andrew in the year 1992 when she and her family were affected by the storm.

Burch attended Briarcrest Christian High School in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a proud graduate of Mississippi State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Professional and Broadcast Meteorology. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her family, doing yoga, going to the beach, and running. She also loves to watch her Bulldogs play.
