Katie Jeffries is an American Anchor/Reporter working with First Coast News/WJXX-TV where she serves the station as a morning anchor/traffic reporter on Good Morning Jacksonville. She joined the station in the year 2012.

While in Jacksonville, she has covered stories in nearly every corner of the First Coast. In the month of May 2017, she began her series “Unsolved,” which profiles local cold cases. Asides from these, she won a regional Emmy Award in the year 2019. The year 2020 saw the series directly lead to the closure of a missing person case in Jacksonville Beach. Asides from this, she also created the social series around the First Coast. The series received a local Emmy nomination in the year 2020.

She is proud to have anchored and reported during several major events in Jacksonville. Katie also covered Hurricanes Dorian, Hermine, Matthew, and Irma. She also covered the abduction of Cherish Perrywinkle, the Jacksonville Landing mass shooting, the birth of the area’s first-ever conjoined twins, and the murder trial of Michael Dunn. Despite most of her reporting having serious focus, she has also won two regional Emmys for her light feature “Bye Garbage” and “Flight School.”

After her graduation, she also began her journalism career as a reporter/fill-in anchor at WHIZ-TV, an NBC affiliate in Zanesville, Ohio. There, her story, “An Eye in the Sky,” received an Ohio AP Award. Later on, from there, she worked at WCIT in New Bern, North Carolina. She also covered multiple hurricanes which include the devastating Hurricane Irene.
