Kelcey Carlson is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter working for FOX 9/KMSP in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She joined the station in January 2014. Carlson serves as the evening news Anchor.

After graduating from high school and earning her High School Diploma, she had to further her education. She joined Indiana University Bloomington to pursue her career course. After completing her studies there, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism, with a concentration in Political Science, and earned a minor in French.

She did quite a great job when she field-anchored live coverage after the explosion at Minnehaha Academy and also field-anchored FOX 9’s coverage that day. With the help of her contacts from back in Kalamazoo, she helped to break the news of P.J. Fleck’s hiring at the University of Minnesota.

Upon college graduation, she got an opportunity to work for CBS affiliate WBTW in the Florence/Myrtle Beach market, it was her first job. During her working time there, she served the station as a weekend producer. In her first two months, she covered the crash of flight TWA 800, Hurricanes Bertha and Fran. While there, she worked her way up through the rank where she earned a position as a “one-man band” reporter/photographer, shooting and editing her own stories for daily newscasts.

From there, she landed another job at WWMT-Ch. 3 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While there, she was sent to cover several big stories including the execution of Timothy McVeigh and the 2000 Presidential Election uncertainty in West Palm Beach, Florida. During her time there, she began doing more investigative reporting and it helped her to earn awards for her stories on the Sex Offender Registry. Later, she was named weekday morning anchor.

Her career also took her to Raleigh, North Carolina to work for WRAL-TV. She joined the station as a reporter. While there she worked her way up through the rank and was promoted to anchor weekend newscasts and then the weekday morning show. Furthermore, she covered several big hurricanes including Hurricane Isabel which devastated the southern Outer Banks. She was in charge of the station’s coverage of the criminal case against presidential candidate John Edwards and also covered the Duke Lacrosse case.

During her leisure time, she is an avid runner. To date, she has completed 31 marathons including 7 Boston Marathons, 3 of which she qualified under the men’s timing standard. Carlson has competed in many tough and emotional assignments, but standing near Boylston Street after the bombings was one of the most emotional. In addition to that, she has run Berlin, Chicago, and Grandma’s Marathon. She once won a marathon, it was the Grandfather Mountain Marathon in Boone, North Carolina in 2011. This happened 4 months after her second child was born.

In 2013 after running in the Boston Marathon, she live reported near Boylston Street after the bombings happened. She values the experience she gained covering the Hurricane’s Stanley Cup victory, Final Four wins, and Federal Courts where she spent 10 and a half years in Raleigh. Her career gave her an opportunity and she ventured north to Minnesota for the main evening anchor position at FOX 9 in 2014.
