She received her education at Fort Zumwalt West High of O’Fallon where she graduated in 2002. After graduating from high school, she attended The University of Kansas from 2002 to 2006 where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications, Journalism, and Theatre. Prior to joining WTVR-TV, she worked for WWBT/NBC12 Raycom Media as a News Content Specialist from September 2011 to April 2013. From March 2011 to 2012, she was a Feature Reporter at Fat Chimp Studios. Prior to that, she worked for ESPN Radio as a Guest Announcer where she did a two-hour talk show discussing various local and national sports. From September 2007 to May 2008, she worked as a Production QAssistant for KSDK-TV NBC. There, she was responsible for preparing anchor/talent/director scripts, running teleprompter, posting events on the station’s website, and providing research data to the executive producers among others.
Prior to that, she was a Public Relations Representative for St. Louis Blues from October 2006 to May 2007. There, she was responsible for the pre-game to-do lists, setting up locker rooms for Mighty Mite players, choosing contestants for intermission activities, and escorting contestants, and players to their appropriate seats among others. Kristen was then a Sports Anchor for KUJH-TV from August 2006 to December 2006, where she anchored/hosted a thirty-minute televised segment covering various KU NCAA Sports. From August 2005 to December 2005, she was a News Anchor at KJHK-News Radio. There, she anchored and produced a newsworthy cast of local news, regional news, national news, sports, and weather and established and maintained databases using Final Cut and Final Cut Pro.
When she is not working, she can be found playing football or volleyball on the beach or snowboarding in the mountains. She is both an athlete and a sports fan. Being a former cheerleader, she enjoys cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, and Blues, and rooting for the Rams. In her spare time, she loves baking goodies for her co-workers, especially gooey-butter cake cookies.
