Stout serves as an anchor and correspondent at CNN based in Hong Kong. In this role, she reports Live in the field and from the newsroom covering major breaking news stories including the Covid-19 pandemic, US-China relations, and the aftermath of extreme climate events in the region.
In addition to these roles at the network, she also serves as the host of several CNN feature programs including a digital and Television series called Tech For Good. She also hosts “Marketplace Asia” a program that aims at CNN’s global audience of business leaders.
Stout has also managed to interview Elon Musk, Jane Goodall, and Maria Ressa who are one of the world’s most innovative thinkers. She also aims at covering stories of how developments in China are dramatically changing the world and so much more.
Stout also promotes the network’s CNN Freedom Project as well as reports major stories and events of modern-day slavery, including student outreach which was in Hong Kong. Stout is also an active member and mentor of Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA). In addition to that, she is also a Correspondent Board Governor and Correspondent Member at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong. She went to Stanford University where she attained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was also a student at Beijing’s Tsinghua University where she studied advanced Mandarin Chinese.
