Kristin Pierce is an American journalist who serves as a Reporter/Anchor at WHAS11 in Louisville, KY, specializing in general assignment reporting. She anchors mornings at WHAS11 weekdays from 4:30 – 7:00 a.m.
Kristin Pierce Career
Kristin relocated to Louisville from New Orleans, Louisiana’s WWL-TV. She was the weekend evening anchor/reporter there. Kristin was able to cover breaking news, catastrophic storms, and events that affected people’s daily lives in her job. Kristin broke the story about a utility corporation paying actors to attend municipal council meetings and talk in support of a $210 million gas plant.
As a result of this article, the utility provider was fined $5 million. Kristin has a strong interest in the company where she works. She launched a Neighborhood Heroes section in New Orleans to spotlight ordinary people accomplishing great things in their communities.
Kristin previously worked as a reporter for WXYZ/WMYD in Detroit, Michigan, where she was born and raised. She covered major national news issues in Detroit, including former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s corruption trial, the Renisha McBride murder case, and the Flint water crisis.
Kristin spent some time behind the scenes before stepping in front of the camera. She worked for WDIV in Detroit and WTVG in Toledo, Ohio, as an assistant producer. Kristin earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a minor in Sociology from Bowling Green State University.
She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Kristin has also been a victim of domestic abuse. She spends a lot of time spreading awareness about this form of abuse in the hopes of making a difference in people’s lives.
