Kristin Thorne is an American Emmy award-winning reporter working at WABC-TV where she serves as an investigative reporter a position she took up in January 2022. She joined the Eyewitness News team in January 2012, as a reporter after previously working at WCBS-TV.

In 2000, Thorne joined Georgetown University where she graduated magna cum laude in 2004, with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. Later on, she attended Northwestern University where she studied at its prestigious Medill School of Journalism and earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Hofstra University where she teaches journalism at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication.

In addition, Kristin created, write, and produced WABC’s true crime series called Missing, where she investigates the disappearances of people from the New York City area. In addition, prior to joining WABC-TV, she worked at News 12 Westchester and before that, she worked at WHTM-TV ABC 27 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Over the years, she has received many Emmy nominations and one Emmy award. Kristin has also been honored with two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in addition to receiving a number of Folio awards, for being the best of Long Island journalism. In the 2021 Long Island International Film Expo, she was honored with the Excellence in Newscasting Award. Furthermore, she competes in triathlons and she is currently training for an Ironman. During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling around the U.S and Europe, reading, and studying Spanish.
