Larry Sprinkle is an American journalist who serves as a meteorologist at WCNC. From 4:30 to 7 a.m., he is the morning meteorologist, and then four times an hour on the Today Show. In 1985, he also started working full-time at the station.
Larry Sprinkle Career
He has worked as a meteorologist for more than 36 years, covering winter storms in the mountains, a lot of 100-degree days on the weather patio, tornadoes in the Piedmont region, and hurricanes along the Carolina coastline. In the mid-1970s, he joined the WCNC news staff, where he hosted weekend movie specials and conducted station announcements and advertising. He was also the host of the game show Quibble, a special public affairs show featuring a Jeopardy-style set and a live studio audience.
He’s also made appearances on New Year’s Eve portions, Christmas specials, telethons, and several neighborhood broadcasts. He has also spent the previous twenty-three years as a member of the Wake-Up Charlotte crew. He may also be seen on the weekday WCNC Charlotte lunchtime news, which airs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in addition to acting as a morning meteorologist at the station.
