Lauren Scafidi Education
The Chicago native is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2017. During her time in college, she served as president of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Scafidi helped in the launch helped of the University’s first morning show, “Good Morning Illini.” Further, she hosted a radio show on WPGU 107.1 FM and broke stories on the front page of the school newspaper “The Daily Illini.”

Upon joining the station, she worked as a TV news reporter and a fill-in anchor at noon, 4, 5, 9, and 10 p.m. Previously, she worked for Doppler 9 & 10 News co-anchor for Michigan This Morning. She started her journalism career there as a reporter in 2017 and helped launch a lifestyle show new to the station and market in 2018. She later worked her way up to the anchor chair that year.
During her time at 9 & 10 News, Scafidi won awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for Best Reporter, Best Anchor, and Best Feature story. She also highlighted people and dishes behind the region’s most successful restaurants in her weekly segment, Inside The Kitchen. Moreover, she began a weekly podcast named We’re Offscript, which featured exclusive interviews with Good Morning America’s Ginger Zee, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, four-time Stanley Cup champion Darren McCarty, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. She has a passion for the community, having served on executive boards and volunteered for Make-A-Wish, March of Dimes, and D.A.R.E.
