Len Besthoff Biography
Len Besthoff is an American journalist who serves as the Chief Investigative Reporter for NBC Connecticut (WVIT) in West Hartford, Connecticut. Besthoff’s career on television runs across over three decades now.
He has covered headline-making stories on the East Coast and New England. Len has covered numerous hurricanes and snowstorms and also 9/11. In Connecticut, he covered the violence in Newtown and at Hartford Distributors in Manchester and also the arrest of Hartford’s mayor.

In January 1990, he joined News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk, Connecticut, United States as a news reporter. Leaving News 12, he joined WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Virginia as a business and general assignment reporter. He covered major employers in Roanoke and Lynchburg TV markets while there.
Besthoff joined WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina in September 1997 as a general assignment reporter. He left the station to join CBS affiliate WFSB-TV in Hartford, Connecticut as a reporter. Len also served as their Hartford bureau chief and member of the investigative team.
Besthoff joined NBC Connecticut in West Hartford, Connecticut, United States in October 2013 as chief investigative reporter. Coming to Connecticut, Len has covered major stories including patient abuse at Connecticut’s maximum security psychiatric hospital. He has also uncovered problems with the state’s new “Next Generation 911” system and Connecticut’s DMV software.

He has held public utilities accountable for their treatment of ratepayers and pointed out the wrongdoing of officials in the government. Besthoff serves on the board of the Connecticut Foundation for Open Government (CFOG).
