Rachael Jay is an American Certified broadcast meteorologist who serves as the weekend evening meteorologist at NBC Connecticut (WVIT) in West Hartford, Connecticut, United States.
Her interest in weather began at an early age. She has shared that during elementary school science class, she would get obsessed with the cloud types and continued to watch the clouds whenever she could after the lesson. She would begin her day watching the Weather Channel, unlike most children who prefer cartoons.

Jay attended Penn State University where she earned her meteorology degree. While in college, she participated in the Campus Weather Service (CWS), in both the forecasting and communications divisions. This gave her the opportunity to not only work on and off screen, but with radio as well.

Jay worked as the weekend and morning meteorologist at HMTV6 in Hagerstown, Maryland. She later moved to KWWL where she was a meteorologist on duty weekend mornings and noon. She then covered weekend evenings at WVEC (ABC) in Norfolk, Virginia. There, she covered major events which include Hurricane Dorian’s landfall in North Carolina.
She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the American Meteorological Society, and also the National Weather Association
