Mark Nelsen Biography
Mark Nelsen is an American meteorologist working for FOX 12 since joining the station in 2000. He forecasts weather in most of the evening newscasts which could be 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., 10 p.m., or the 11 p.m. shows. Or sometimes ALL of them.

Nelsen spent his school years in Mt. Angel, OR, and Chehalis, WA. He then joined the University of Washington where he graduated with a B.S. Atmospheric Science.
Mark Nelsen Career
Nelsen spent roughly all of his childhood and all of his adulthood inside a 2-hour drive of Portland. He is is a Pacific Northwest “local”. Nelsen was that kind of a kid who spent too much time staring out the window, thus turning into late homework. He is therefore proud to be a “weather geek”(The ultimate weather fanatic)
In the early 1990s, Nelsen was out of college and immediately went to try various TV jobs. Unfortunately, he was told that he looked like a teenager. However, he took a short spell working at a small local company that forecasts wind in the Columbia River Gorge. Nelsen was then employed by KOIN-TV at the age of 24 when he looked like an adult then moved to FOX 12 in 2000. That is 28 years on Portland TV!
It is surprising to note that Nelsen lives only a few short years in cities(country person). Living with 2 kids and a wife, he also rears quite a few chickens and ducks and as well as 2 cats. He also grows peach trees, pears, and a dozen apples which are surrounded by berries and a summer garden each year.
Nelsen feels provoked when his name is spelled “NelsOn” instead of “NelsEn”. His name should have an E, not an O.
