Mark Skol Jr. is an American anchor/reporter working at ABC 13, where he serves as a weekend sports anchor. He joined the ABC 13 sports team in June 2022, after previously working at WNDU-TV as a sports director.
Skol studied broadcast journalism at the Moody College of Communication and earned a business certificate from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Bachelor’s degree.
He previously worked at the NBC affiliate WNDU-TV for 5 years in South Bend, Indiana. He joined the WNDU team as an editor/photographer and later worked his way to serving as a weekend sports anchor and later a sports director. For their coverage of Fighting Irish football, in 2019 he was awarded together with the WNDU sports team the Indiana Broadcasters Association, Best Sports Coverage award.
Houston, Texas is his native home and his family resided just down the road from NASA’s Johnson Space Center. He is also a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and he loves the Midwest. During his leisure time, he enjoys watching his beloved Chicago sports teams, talking trash about his friend’s fantasy football, and playing pickup basketball.
