Mike Clay Biography
Mike Clay is an American Chief Meteorologist working for Bay News 9. He has been working for the station since joining in 1997 as the first meteorologist on Your Morning News.
Clay serves as the chief meteorologist at Bay News 9 and can be seen every weekday afternoon and evening. He started his career at a small radio station in 1978 and started working at KCEN-TV in Waco, Texas serving as a TV weather anchor. He, later on, started working at KXAN-TV, the NBC affiliate in Austin, Texas where he served as a chief meteorologist. In this role, she was in charge of enclosing earthquakes, snowstorms, and volcanoes.
Clay also assisted in launching Bay News 9 in 1997 as the original meteorologist on Your Morning News. His most unforgettable weather event is August 13, 2004, Hurricane Charley which left some people dead. He went to Mississippi State University where he attained his meteorology education. Clay also went to Central Texas College where he attained his degree in telecommunications. He has also managed to win several awards including the Florida Associated Press award and a Florida Suncoast Emmy award for Best Weathercast for severe weather coverage.
Clay is also the owner of the AMS TV Seal of Approval in 1995 and later on, upgraded to the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal. In addition to that, he is also the owner of the National Weather Association’s TV and Radio Seal of Approval. Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends.
