MK Burgess whose full name is Mary Kate Burgess is an American journalist who serves on the Local 5 Sports team as a Sports Reporter. She is from Anchorage, Alaska.
MK Burgess Career
She spent two and a half years in Alaska, documenting events such as the Iditarod, a lot of cross-country skiing, snowmobile races, and the legendary Mount Marathon marathon, which is a 5k up 3,000 feet of elevation. Living in Alaska was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for her, and she learned a lot as a journalist during her time there.
Covering Kikkan Randall’s gold medal win at the 2018 Winter Olympics and being on the Iditarod trail, chasing the mushers as they made their way to Nome are two of her favorite stories. MK spent the previous two years of her career covering the Cardinals and Blues in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Yes, she’s still talking about the Blues’ 2019 Stanley Cup victory.
MK can be found running on Green Bay’s numerous trails, reading by the gorgeous waterfront areas, or listening to Bruce Springsteen when she isn’t consuming football games and game day cuisine. She is also a huge dog lover. They’re all dogs.
MK graduated from the University of Missouri’s journalism school in 2015. She loves the Tigers, but her grandfather played football for the Florida Gators, so she grew up rooting for them. MK is constantly on the lookout for a good sports story and is excited to join the Green Bay community.
