Tom Zalaski Biography
Tom Zalaski is an American journalist, speaker, professional emcee, and author. He has also reported numerous television news for over 40 years. This is from national political conventions to the Super Bowl.
Tom Zalaski Career
For the past 42 years, he has had the privilege of being invited into different homes every night to bring the events of the day that affect all of us. He doesn’t see himself as the ‘Newscaster’ and you as the ‘Viewer’. The more than 70,000 newscasts he has anchored have shown him the best and the worst in our world. He is dismayed and disheartened at the cruelty some people are capable of inflicting upon others. On a brighter note, he has been moved by how good we can be to our fellow human beings.
His television career began at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. (Yes, the same Marshall University that produced Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Randy Moss! Please don’t hold that against me.) While earning a bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Speech/Broadcasting he did part-time work as a talk show host for PBS taught broadcast law and history, consulted for a chain of radio stations, worked weekends on radio, emceed weekly live music concerts and was even the manager of a mindreader/mentalist!
His first job out of college was at WOWK-TV 13 (ABC) in Huntington where he started as the guy who mixed the chemicals to develop the news film and worked his way up to film editor, reporter, producer, talk show host, and anchor. Talk about starting at the bottom!
He joined Green Bay Wi when he was at the age of 25. He was required to provide his family with quality and not just any type of quality upbringing. Therefore, he took the challenge and became a newscaster. He has been on the station for more than 34 years. There is nothing more important one can provide for his family than quality of life. In that respect, Green Bay is a Big Time.
When he is not doing television, he has his hands on several other projects through his company Zalaski Productions. He does voice-over and on-camera narration for corporate videos, kiosks, museums, non-profit organizations, and regional and national documentaries.
He is on the national speaker’s tour and conducts seminars for corporations and organizations on topics ranging from media relations to overcoming the fear of public speaking. He is also a professional emcee and after-dinner speaker.
