Nicole Estaphan Biography
Nicole Estaphan is an American Emmy-award-winning journalist who serves as a reporter and producer for ABC affiliate WCVB-TV’s chronicle in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The Chronicle airs weeknights at 7:30 PM. It is recognized as United States’ longest-running and top-rated locally produced news magazine.
Estaphan loves giving back to the community and engaging in community work. Serves as both a keynote speaker and Emcee for dozens of organizations locally and internationally. These organizations include Girls, Inc., The National Brain Tumor Society, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She also volunteers at a dog rescue shelter in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
In her passion for sharing stories and encouraging younger generations, Nicole is working on a program with the Children’s Smile Coalition. The purpose of the program is to help kids living in poverty find their voice and confidence through public speaking.
Nicole Estaphan Education
Estaphan attended Emerson College in Boston and graduated with a master’s degree in journalism. She also has a master’s degree in marketing and communications from the University of Rhode Island.
Nicole Estaphan Career
Estaphan started her career working in sales for Katz Media Group from May 2002 to February 2004. She later joined WKTV NewsChannel 2 in Utica, New York, United States in October 2007, as an anchor and reporter. In August 2009, she joined WFFF-TV in Burlington, Vermont serving as a reporter and anchor.
Nicole joined WPRI Media & Marketing in Providence, Rhode Island in May 2011 as a reporter and fill-in-anchor. Among her roles was to research, and report on multiple in-depth investigations as a contributor to the Target 12 team. She also reported on hundreds of stories including the Boston Bombing and beginning stages of the Aaron Hernandez Investigation.
Estaphan joined WAGA-TV (FOX 5 Atlanta) as a multi-media journalist in 2013. She shot, edited, and wrote packages for early and late evening newscasts. Nicole also contributed multiple straight live hits for Greta Van Susteren’s show (FOX NEWS) when needed. She also conducted the last televised interview with poet Maya Angelou. For her work, she received national recognition for her series of reports on a toxic neighborhood with a legacy of military waste dumping.
Nicole joined WCVB-TV in January 2016 as a freelance news reporter. She was a journalist at sea, spending 26 days aboard a research ship for a NASA-funded study called The North Atlantic Aerosols and Marine Ecosystems Study (NAAMES.) This was the first time a journalist has been embedded, for an entire month, with a NASA mission at sea.
