Omar Villafranca is an American Correspondent/Reporter working for CBS News as a Correspondent based in Dallas, Texas since April 2016. He joined the network in January 2014 as a United States Newspath Correspondent.

This is in addition to reporting on the destructive path of Hurricanes Maria, Michael, and Harvey and traveling to El Salvador to trace the root cause of migrants coming to the United States.
He has been part of CBS News’ multiplatform, multi-broadcast coverage of the shooting of five police officers in Dallas. As a result of his extensive coverage of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery on CBS News platforms and on “48 Hours,” he won a Gracie Award. Omar received this award from the Alliance for Women in Media and the Silver Gravel Award from the American Bar Association.
Prior to joining the CBS News team, he was working with KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth where he worked between January 2008 and January 2014. He has also worked with KOTV/KQCW, a CBS affiliate station in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There he was serving the station as a News Anchor/Reporter between 2004 and 2008. Villafranca has also worked with KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma where he was serving the station as an Anchor/Reporter. There, he worked between 2003 and 2004.
