Patrick McKee Biography
Patrick McKee is an American Producer who is well known for his time at WSLS where he served as a producer and special project investigator a position he took up in June 2022. He joined the WSLS 10 News team in March of 2006 and later in August 2022, he left the station and he currently works at Virginia Tech where he serves as a marketing communications coordinator.
Prior to McKee serving as a producer, he served as a morning news anchor and before he became a news anchor in November 2014, he spent the better part of his career as a meteorologist. Before he relocated to Virginia, he worked at KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma where he covered severe weather for a period of four years. In addition, Central North Carolina is his native home and his interest in weather sparked in 1989 when Hurricane Hugo struck his hometown.
In 1999, he graduated from Elon University with a degree in Broadcast Communications with minors in Math and Computer Science. Later on, he joined the University of North Carolina at Asheville together with Jeff Haniewich where he graduated in 2001, with a post-baccalaureate degree in atmospheric science. During his leisure time, he enjoys cooking occasionally, and he is a huge Carolina Tarheel fan
