Chris is an American Meteorological Society (AMS) Certified Broadcaster, and in 2017, the American Meteorological Society presented him with their Certificate in broadcast meteorology. In 2014, Michaels graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology. Before he relocated to Roanoke, he worked in the Tri-Cities; Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City, and for a period of four years, he worked at WCYB.
