Pete Byrne Biography
Pete Byrne is an American Sports director, host, reporter, and anchor working at WSBT 22 News in South Bend, Indiana. He joined the station in 2006 as a sports director.

He went to high school at Trinity. While there, he played basketball, baseball, and just a little soccer. He says that he was the goalie. From there, he joined the University of Notre Dame in 1995 to pursue his career course. After completing his studies there, he graduated with a degree in Film, Television, and Theater in 1999. During his time in college, he was the equipment manager for the hockey and football programs, spending thousands of hours behind the scenes. In addition to that, he is a member of the Notre Dame monogram club.

He also worked for KEYC-TV in North Mankato, Minnesota as a sports anchor and reporter for two years. His career also took him to Minneapolis, MN to work at WCCO-TV as a sports producer. He served there for one after leaving Midwest Sports Channel in Minneapolis, MN where he worked for two years as a freelancer.
Byrne is happy to be back home and working covering his beloved Fighting Irish, along with all his other favorite local teams including the Blackhawks, Bears, and Cubs. He also enjoys covering some of the best high school sports around, including Hoosier Hysteria, the best high school basketball in the country if he is to be asked. During his leisure time, he likes watching sports, golfing, and going to the gym.
