Renee Chou Biography
Renee Chou is an American Anchor/Reporter working for WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina where she serves the station as a Weekend Evening Anchor/Reporter. She has been working with the station since the month of June year 2012.

She is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. where she obtained a Bachelor of Journalism Degree. She studied in the school between 1994 and 1998 before graduating. While there, she worked as a KOMU-TV8 Reporter. Asides from this, she also served the MU Outreach Student Recruitment Team and was the Asian American Association President. Asides from this, she was also the Missouri Students Association Senator and a proud member of Omicron Delta Kappa.

Chou works for WRAL-TV where she serves the station as a Weekend Evening Anchor/Reporter. She states that she first visited North Carolina for a job interview at WRAL-TV. Since then, she has fallen in love with Raleigh and considers it home.
She began her career at WRAL-TV working as a reporter for the morning news in the year 2004. There, she was working the 1 AM -9 AM shift. Chou worked her way up to the weekend morning and weekend evening anchor positions. The year 2014 saw her being named the weekday morning anchor and the in 2016, she was added to the noon news team anchoring duties.
Prior to WRAL, she worked for KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she was serving the station as an anchor/reporter. There, she worked between 1998 and 2004. Previously, she also worked with KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. There, she served the station as an Anchor/Reporter between 1997 and 1998.
For her, the news is all about telling accurate, compelling, and fair stories that matter the most. Away from work, she enjoys, taking trips to the beach, curling up with a good book, playing tennis, and hiking. Asides from this, she states that despite the fact that she has never been a runner, she enjoys good cardio, kickboxing workout, and barre. She also states that she is obsessed with musicals.
Chou explains that way back in the day she was playing piano at around 12 years old, she also performed and taught traditional Chinese dance. Nowadays she loves spending her free time with her lovely daughter. Asides from this, she enjoys emceeing dozens of community events every year which include races, panel discussions, walks, and concerts. Asides from this, she loves visiting schools to read to kids, answering questions about the news industry, and telling the children why she loves being a television journalist.
She states that she loves memoirs since few things are more compelling than a person’s story told through his/her most authentic voice. Renee explains that what she loves most about North Carolina is the mild winter, the fact that one can drive to either the beach or the mountains in just a few hours, and the friendly people.
Among his most memorable assignments include the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She also considers reporting on Election Day 2008 from Phoenix, while covering presidential candidate John McCain as a memorable story. Her memorable stories also include The Final Four in Indianapolis when Duke won the National Championship in 2015 and Weathering hurricanes along the OBX (Earl, Irene, and Sandy). Asides from this, she considers it memorable when she was taking a ride in an F-15E Strike at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

In the course of her career working with WRAL, she earned three Regional Emmys which include General Assignment in the year 2015. His coverage of Hurricane Sandy along the Outer Banks won a Regional Emmy for Weekend Newscast and “Best Weather Reporting” from the NC Associated Press Broadcast Awards.
Asides from this, she also won a Regional Emmy for News Special in the year 2013 where she was covering the Kathy Taft murder trial. She has also been nominated for a Regional Emmy in the year 2020 for Best Morning Newscast. Her stories have also garnered awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas, Missouri Broadcast Awards, and the Iowa Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
