Rita Braver (Rita Lynn Braver) is an American Emmy Award-winning correspondent working for CBS News. She joined the station in 1972 as a news desk editor. She is best known for her investigative journalism on White House scandals such as the Iran-Contra affair.

Prior to working on “CBS Sunday Morning,” she served as CBS News chief White House correspondent for four years from 1993 to 1997. During that time, she covered a wide range of foreign and domestic issues. She worked as a floor reporter at the Democratic Convention. Braver also traveled the world on the White House beat and followed President Bill Clinton through his re-election campaign. During that time in the White House, she was a guest host of “Face the Nation” and also a frequent guest.
From 1983 to 1993, she served as a CBS News chief law correspondent reporting for the “CBS Evening News,” the “CBS Morning News,” “48 Hours,” “Street Stories” and “Public Eye.” Her beat included all federal law enforcement agencies including the DEA and FBI, the Justice Department, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Moreover, during the Reagan administration and the drug trial of Washington, D.C. Mayor Marion Barry, she covered the Iran-Contra case. She broke the case of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard and broke the story of the Walker family spy ring. Her journalism career job began in New Orleans working for the CBS affiliate WWL-TV.
