Rusty McCranie Biography

Rusty McCranie is an American meteorologist, working for WFTV serving as the Monday through Friday 7 am-9 am and noon meteorologist. He has been working for the station since joining in November 2013.

McCrainie serves as the Monday through Friday 7 am-9 am and noon meteorologist at WFTV. He previously worked for KOCO-TV where she served as the weekend evening meteorologist and severe weather expert from March 2007 to July 2007 in Oklahoma City. Prior to that, he worked for KRCG in Jefferson, MO where she served as a meteorologist from 2005 to 2007.

Before KRCG, he worked for WDHN-TV where he served as the chief meteorologist from 2004 to 2005 in Dothan, AL. From 2002 to 2003, he worked for Capital News9 where he served as a meteorologist in Biloxi, MS. He began his career in 1998 and he worked for WDTV-TV where he served as a meteorologist till his departure in 1999 in Clarksburg, WV.

He attained a degree in telecommunication from the University of Florida and a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. In addition, he is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) and a member of the American Meteorological Society.

During his leisure, he likes learning Italian and hopes to use the language skills when he travels to Italy. He also loves playing softball for the WFTV “Niners”, where he plays in left field, hoping not to dislocate his shoulder. In addition to that, he also enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends.
