Ryan Hoke Biography

Ryan Hoke is an American meteorologist working at WAVE 3 where he serves as a weeknight at 7 pm and 7;30 pm newscast. He re-joined WAVE 3 in January 2013, after previously working at Storm Chasing Adventure Tours. 

In 2005, Hoke joined duPont Manual Magnet High School where he earned a diploma in 2009. Later on, he joined Mississippi State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in broadcast meteorology in 2013. Louisville, Kentucky is his native home and from a young age, he was always interested in weather thus began a website that is devoted to forecasting Louisville’s weather while he was still in high school. The success of his website created an opportunity for him to join a storm-chasing tour company in the Great Plains where he served as a web developer and tour guide. While he worked the Great Plains, he gained experience that earned him n a major head start in severe weather forecasting.

While he was in college, he was awarded many accolades for his work in meteorology and broadcasting such as the National Weather Association’s Broadcast Meteorology Scholarship. Ryan also worked at WBBJ, the ABC/CBS affiliate in Jackson, Tennessee where he served as the weekend morning weather forecaster. In addition, he is familiar with the WAVE News station as he has intervened at the station and shadowed Kevin Harned over the years. For Hoke, it is a dream come true for him to be working at WAVE News and during his free time, he enjoys dabbling in photography, going to concerts, running, and trying new food.
