Scott Broom Biography
Scott Broom is an American journalist working for WUSA-TV serving as a multi-media journalist since joining the station in December 2007. Previously, he was an investigative reporter at WMAR-TV in Baltimore.

Upon finishing high school, Scott attended Washington and Lee University in 1979 where he attained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Economics in 1983. He was also an active member of Pi Kappa Phi.

He also appears as a chief bureau in Prince George’s County news where he addresses issues such as environmental policy and Maryland state legislature. He also reported exclusive weather events such as Hurricane Sandy in Louisiana and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
Earlier, Broom worked for WMAR-TV in Baltimore, Maryland from January 1991 to September 2007. While there, he played in different roles such as weekend morning anchor, investigative reporter, weathercaster, and general reporter. Prior to working at WMAR-TV, Scott spent ten years working as a writer, host, and documentary producer at Adventure Productions. There, he was in charge of hosting documentaries series, writing, and cooperating with other companies.
Before joining Adventure Productions, Broom served as an editor at Aspen Daily News from 1990 to 1991. Previously, he worked for KCNC-TV as a Western Bureau reporter from 1986 to 1990. Scott began his journalism career at KDLH TV as a reporter from 1983 to 1984. After that, he moved and joined KTBC TV in 1984 where he served as a reporter for two years. For his work over the years, Broom has been honored with numerous awards such as two Telly awards, nine AP awards, and two local Emmys.
Apart from working as a journalist, Scott also served as a co-producer and communications strategy consultant at Redzone News Management. There, he cooperated with government agencies, non-profits, and sponsors to help the community. Broom served the institution for three years from 2005 to 2008.
