Steve Garagiola is an American retired anchor and reporter who is best known for his time at Local 4 where he served as the weekday evening anchor at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. He joined the station in 1995, and after working at Local 4 for 27 years, he retired on May 12, 2021. 

He began his career as a sports reporter by covering the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Steve became a news photographer after the bombing at Centennial Park, and when he returned home, he made the official switch to the news. Steve likes to write and cook. He’s also authored a novel and a cookbook, as well as an e-book about writing and his career in television news.

He claims to be able to play the piano and guitar well enough to amuse himself, but not good enough to put anyone else through it. Since 1996, when he shifted from athletics to journalism after covering the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Garagiola has been bringing material to Metro-Detroit residents as a feature writer and news presenter.
