Ted Koppy Biography
Ted Koppy is an American journalist who serves as an anchor and reporter on WVIT (NBC CT) in New Britain, Connecticut, United States. He appears on weekday mornings from 4:30 to 7 a.m. on NBC Connecticut Today alongside co-anchor Heidi Voight and Meteorologist Bob Maxon.
He has won two Emmy awards and an Edward R. Murrow award throughout his broadcasting career.

Koppy attended Worthington Senior High School in Worthington, Minnesota. He later joined Saint John’s University in 1985 and graduated in 1989.

Koppy serves as a sales assistant at Auto-Linke, Crailsheim Germany from 1989 to 1990. In October 1991, he joined KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States. There, he reported shot, wrote, edited, anchored, and produced newscasts. He also served as a fill-in weathercaster. He worked for the station until October 1996.
Koppy joined WHEC-TV 10 NBC in Rochester, New York in October 1996 as an anchor, reporter, and children’s program host. There, he anchored the 5 pm newscast Monday to Friday which was followed by live field reporting for the 11 pm News. He served as the host and storyteller for the weekly children’s program, “Let’s Read.” For his work, he was awarded the 1998 Parent’s Choice Award for advancing children’s learning.
In March 1999, he joined WTAE Television in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as an anchor and reporter. Koppy anchored traditional evening news broadcasts on weekends and worked as an award-winning reporter (Associated Press, Best Spot News) from the field on weekdays. He served as morning and noon news anchor for KPHO Television in Phoenix, Arizona from 2002 until 2004. From October 2004 to May 2011, he was a news anchor and reporter for WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut.
Koppy served as a financial advisor for Waddell & Reed in Hamden, CT from September 2011 to November 2016. He has also worked as a personal finance educator in Greater New York City Area. From April 2014 to November 2016, he served as an anchor and reporter at News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk, CT.
