Tim Strong Biography

Tim Strong is an American journalist who serves as a First Alert Meteorologist on the News 12 team since 2005 from a station in Lincoln, Nebraska. He grew up in Columbia, S.C.

Tim Strong Career

Tim played baseball for two years at Brevard College in Brevard, N.C., and two years at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He graduated from Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications and a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Tim began his television career with WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. He worked as a morning and midday meteorologist at KLKN-TV Channel 8 in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 2002 to 2005, when he saw enough snow to last a lifetime in three years. Tim was a member of the Channel 8 weather team that won the Associated Press Award for Severe Weather Coverage of the Hallam Tornado in May 2004. At the time, this tornado was the widest on record at 2.5 miles.

Tim has enjoyed presenting the weather to Augusta viewers with a grin and a little humor since joining the News 12 team in 2005. Tim was a member of the News 12 weather team that received the Associated Press Award for Best Severe Weather Coverage in 2012. He enjoys attending church, working out, playing softball, and playing keyboards and drums in the church praise and worship band, among other things.
