Riley Hale Biography

Riley Hale is an American journalist who serves as the First Alert Chief Meteorologist at WRDW. Since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the weather.

Riley Hale Career

He saw one of the greatest ice storms in North Carolina history as a child, which left him and his family without power for two weeks. He recalls sleeping on an inflatable mattress near their wood-burning stove. He’s been addicted ever since that storm.

Riley moved to Savannah, GA throughout high school and decided to attend the University of Georgia because he comes from a family of Georgia Bulldog fanatics. While in Athens, he earned degrees in Geography and General Business, as well as an Atmospheric Science Certificate, allowing him to work as a meteorologist.

Riley joined the News 12 NBC 26 team in June 2017 following two years as a morning meteorologist for The Delta News in Greenville, Mississippi. While in Greenville, he covered three tornado outbreaks as well as the disastrous March 2016 flooding, which inflicted the region’s worst damage since Hurricane Katrina. Basketball, kayaking, fishing, and pretty much any other outdoor activity are among his favorite pastimes. He’s glad to be back in the CSRA forecasting and closer to his family.
