Mike Jakucionis is an American journalist who serves on the On Your Sidelines sports team in News 12 as a sports director since June of 2019. Jakucionis is a New Jersey native who grew up surrounded by sports. If he wasn’t playing something, he was probably at a Jets or Mets game in the fall or summer. In 2006, he attended the final playoff game at Shea Stadium, and in 2010, he attended the final game at Giants Stadium.

While studying communications and cinema studies at Furman University, he fell in love with the South. He interned with WYFF 4 in Greenville, South Carolina, during his senior year. In the fall, he spent his weekends on the sidelines of high school and college football games, and in the spring, he spent his weekends on the basketball baseline and behind home plate.
Mike began his career as a weekend sports anchor with WBKB News in Alpena, Michigan, after graduating in 2018. Deer and elk poles, snowmobile racing, and the 2019 Sno*Drift Rally Race were among his favorite stories there. Following his stay in Michigan, Mike is delighted to be back in the warm climate of the South. In his spare time, you can find him watching the GreenJackets and taking in the sights of the River Region.
