Tom Hanson is an American Anchor working with KELOLAND News where he serves the station as a Midday anchor and evening anchor anchoring the KELOLAND News at Midday and 5 pm newscasts. He has been working with KELOLAND News since October of the year 2020.

Hanson works with KELOLAND News in South Dakota where he serves the station as a midday and evening anchor. He happens to be one of South Dakota’s most experienced television journalists. He joined the KELOLAND News team after about 20 years at another Sioux TV station.
Hanson is the recipient of several EMMY awards which include the Silver Circle. Additionally, the South Dakota Broadcasters Association honored him with the Tom Brokaw Award in the year 2014. The year 2020 saw the mayor of Sioux Falls name a day in his honor. Asides from that, the National Press Foundation, the Poynter Institute, and the Carter Center awarded fellowships to him.
Toms says that he is always looking for opportunities to further his education in a wide variety of subjects. He grew up in Mitchell and he often spent time in Huron and Miller where his grandparents lived. Asides from working in South Dakota, he has also worked for stations in Salt Lake City, Rapid City, and Colorado Springs.
According to him, working and living on both sides of South Dakota gives him a unique perspective on statewide issues. He is also involved in the community where he supports many good causes. Asides from this, he is a proud member of the South Dakota Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association.
