Ariana Schumacher is an American Reporter/Multimedia Journalist working AGWeek Magazine as a reporter and an advocate for agriculture in the Midwest. Previously, she served with KELOLAND-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She serves the station as a Reporter and Multimedia Journalist.

She moved to Vermillion after graduating from Tripp-Delmont High School in 2016. She played a role in making the decision to attend SDSU where she majored in Agricultural Communications and did a minor in Animal Science. While in college, she discovered a new love for journalism which is not a path she originally saw herself taking. Later on, after a couple of years in school, she decided to major in Journalism.

She spent a significant amount of her time at USD involved in student media organizations. Schumacher expanded her love of writing by participating in The Volante, the student-run newspaper, and then learned everything she knows about broadcast journalism by participating in Coyote News, the student-run news show. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media & Journalism as well as International Studies from USD in December 2019.

Being a KELOLAND native, she told stories of people and things that matter to everybody. She grew up outside Pierre, South Dakota on his family’s farm. She has always had a passion for the agricultural industry and bridging the gap between producers and consumers.

Prior to joining KELO, she had worked in multiple areas of both the age and media industries with jobs varying from feeding cattle at the SDSU feedlot and working with no-till farming practices at Dakota Lakes Research Farm and even being a second shooter for wedding photographers and videographers.

While she was still in college is when she began her career with KELOLAND. She kick-started her career here working as a digital reporter in January 2021. Later, on he transitioned into a new role working as a morning reporter. For her, agricultural stories will always hold a special place in her heart.

However, she states that she loves having the opportunity to learn about new things and other industries every day. Away from work, she enjoys spending time outside, hanging out with friends, filming, and photographing weddings, or doing anything that allows him to be on the farm, especially if there is livestock involved.
