Tyler Hardin is an American journalist working for WCTI as the main evening anchor at 5:30, 6, and 11 p.m. on ABC since February 2024. Additionally, he anchors the 10 p.m. newscasts on News 12 on FOX and leads the News 12 Investigates Team. He joined the station in November 2022 after working at FOX8 WGHP in Piedmont Triad as a TV news reporter.

Previously, Hardin worked at FOX8 WGHP in Piedmont Triad as a TV news reporter. In Piedmont Triad, he broadcasted breaking news events like the Winston Weaver Fertilizer Plant fire, the Mount Tabor High School shooting, and an EF1 tornado touchdown in Rockingham County. He delivered live updates when President Joe Biden visited N.C. A&T State University. He also held the leaders responsible during the staffing disaster at the Guilford County Detention Center.
Hardin was the initial TV journalist to push East Carolina University Interim Chancellor Dan Gerlach for answers after he was put on administrative leave when photos of him out at a Greenville bar emerged. He pressured public and private school leaders for information about plans surrounding face-to-face classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hardin’s passion for storytelling began when he was in the 8th grade creating a 10-minute TV show for his middle school. He developed his skills during high school where he was a host, producer, and editor of “Student Reports with Tyler Hardin,” a 30-minute show airing on GCSTV-2 in Guilford County. The show concentrated on student achievements, activities, and awards throughout the school system.
