With a special viewpoint on hurricanes, he flew into the eye of Hurricane Bertha aboard the famed Hurricane hunter aircraft. In 2004, he boarded P3 Orion, NOAA’s hurricane hunter aircraft, and flew into a Hurricane Ivan which was stronger than Bertha.

Since the Suncoast is prone to strong storm popping up, Harrigan always ensures his viewers are knowledgeable enough to get through severe weather when it threatens the region. The Bradenton Herald readers have voted him as the “Best Television Meteorologist” in the Tampa bay region over 5 times. Sarasota Magazine has ranked him as the “Best Television Personality” many times including 3 times in a row from 2014 through 2017.

Harrigan volunteers for many non-for profit organizations where he raises money and awareness for the causes. He also gives valuable hurricane and severe weather seminars yearly for Suncoast residents. The American Meteorological Society granted him the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval. Moreover, Bradenton-Sarasota’s Spark Growth has recognized him as a regional “Thought Leader.” He served as a featured panelist for their technology, weather, and the future talk.
