Brian Karstens is an American Meteorologist working with KELLOLAND-TV where he anchors the weather news for This Morning Show. He has been working with the station since May 2000.

Karstens works with KELLOLAND-TV where he serves the station as a Meteorologist. He states that his interest in weather dates back to his childhood at the age of three. This was after a terrible storm hit their farm near Atlantic, IA and later it left a lasting impression.

Growing up on a farm, he learned how weather affects the lives of people every day. He began kick-started his career in radio at the age of 16 while working for AM 1220, KJAN radio. This is where he really got a chance to practice the art of broadcasting. Later on, he went to attend Iowa State University where he graduated with a major in meteorology.

In his junior year, he landed a job at WIOW-TV, the ABC affiliate for Des Moines. Additionally, he worked weekends for nearly two years. However, as luck would have it, a job opened up at KELOLAND at the end of his senior year. He could not resist the opportunity and came to Sioux Falls in May 2000. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family. Together, as a family, they enjoy Sioux Fallas and all of the wonderful things to see and do there.

His cause dead was unknown but likely thought to be Covid 19 according to the Facebook post made by Karstens on 8th May 2021.
