Chase Shannon Biography

Chase Shannon is an American journalist currently working as the sports anchor and reporter at WOAI/KABB. He joined the station in August 2018.

Chase Shannon Career

After graduating from Oklahoma State University, the Texas native began his career with KTEN in Denison, Texas. He spent two years covering some of the best college basketball in the country, including a trip to San Antonio to cover the Kansas Jayhawks in the Final Four. Chase also covered NFL playoffs for the Kansas City Chiefs, bowl games for the Kansas State Wildcats, and NCAA Tournament runs for the Kansas Jayhawks and Wichita State Shockers while in Wichita.

Prior to Wichita, Chase worked for a year at KARK/Fox16 in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he covered SEC football as well as the Little Rock Trojans’ incredible run to the NCAA Tournament’s second round. Chase has received several awards for sports anchoring and sports reporting from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters, Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters, Kansas Association of Broadcasters, and Lone Star Excellence In My Market.

WOAI-TV, virtual channel 4 (UHF digital channel 28), is a television station affiliated with NBC and licensed to San Antonio, Texas, in the United States. Sinclair Broadcast Group owns the station as part of a duopoly with Fox affiliate KABB (channel 29, also licensed to San Antonio); Sinclair also operates Kerrville-licensed CW affiliate KMYS (channel 35) through joint sales and shared services agreements (JSA/SSA) with owner Deerfield Media.
