She attended Incarnate Word High School where she graduated proudly and later joined The University of the Incarnate Word where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts and an MBA. Barbaro began her career at KENS San Antonio where she was an intern working as weekend news as a producer and reporter.
However, she later left the station to raise her family. In addition, her passion for broadcasting was always there and she remained active in the community by focusing on fundraising for private schools. While she fundraised for private schools, she earned the Telly Award for best video production and film thus being the first time the award was given to a private school.
Furthermore, her work caught the attention of Spurs Legend and NBA Hall of Fame George Gervin. For the George Iceman Gervin Roast televised nationally, she promoted an iconic event with all-time NBA Legends by many sports channels such as ESPN. On the Gabriel Investment Group, she is a corporate executive member and she serves on the Advisory Board for the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenburg School of Optometry.
