Don Harris Biography
Don Harris is an American Emmy award-winning sports anchor working at News4 where he served as the weekday sports anchor and sports director. He joined the News4 sports team in November 1989.
Don Harris Education
He attended San Antonio’s Churchill High School where he graduated proudly. Later on, he joined the University of North Texas where he studied in its Bill Mercer School of Sports Broadcasting, Radio Television, and Film.

Harris works at News4 where he serves as a sports director and weekday sports anchor and as of 2022, he marks 33 years while working at the station. Not long ago, he was honored by the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Silver Circle award. For his over 25 years of successful career and community service, he was honored at the Sports Emmy Awards ceremony. In addition, over the years, he has also won many Emmys and Associated Press awards in categories ranging from best sports special to best commentary to best sportscast.
Furthermore, he has also served on Thursday Night Lights which is a local live high school football broadcast, and UTSA Football as a play-by-play voice. He is also actively involved in the San Antonio community and is a beneficiary of the San Antonio Express-News prestigious Edna McGaffey Media Excellence Award. In addition, he also received the Edna McGaffey Media Excellence Award from the local chapter of American Women in Communications for his community and on-air work.
Harris was named as a rising star in the local community on the 40 Under Forty which is a San Antonio Business Journal. He was also named by the San Antonio Current readers’ poll as the Best Talk Radio host. Furthermore, he made broadcasting history after he simultaneously anchor a live television sportscast and host a live radio sports talk show.
He also founded the Don Harris Golf Classic in 1998, which is a golf tournament that benefits many charities such as the First Tee Of San Antonio, The Family Service Association, S.A. Youth, the First Tee Of San Antonio, the Arthritis Foundation, and The Autism Treatment Center.
In addition, he serves on the board of San Antonio Sports and the Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation. He is also on the advisory board of the Miracle League of San Antonio and he is actively involved in improving the lives of children in San Antonio. During his 33 years at News 4 San Antonio, Don has covered numerous major sporting events such as; all five Spurs World Championships, many Super Bowls, and Final Fours.
