Chevy Chevalier Biography
Chevy Chevalier is an American meteorologist working for KHON as a weekday morning meteorologist since joining the station in March 2022. For more than 2 decades, he has worked in the meteorology field in the Air Force, National Weather Service (NWS), and as a broadcast meteorologist.
Chevy Chevalier Education
Chevalier joined the Ohio State University when he finished his high school education at Toronto High School. He later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences. He then joined American Military University where he graduated with a Master Of Science degree in Environmental Management/Sustainability.

Chevalier works for KHON as a weekday morning meteorologist. For more than 2 decades, he has worked in the meteorology field in the Air Force, National Weather Service (NWS), and as a broadcast meteorologist. He received the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal of approval.
Chevalier enrolled in the army when he graduated high school. In the army worked as a generator and vehicle mechanic. In 1991, he was posted in Saudi Arabia and Iraq for the Persian Gulf War. Four years later, he was posted in Bosnia after the Dayton Peace Accords.
Chevalier secured his first job in Parkersburg where he served WTAP. Next, he relocated to Huntington, West Virginia where he served WOWK. Following 9/11, he returned to the Army when the Air Force commissioned him as a weather officer. He climbed the rank of captain and flight commander of 50 weather Airmen. In 2010, he left the air force and joined KTVX in Salt Lake City where he worked as a news director.
In 2012, Chevalier received a job offer to work in Hawaii. He served the NWS in Hilo for two years before joining the Honolulu NWS office in 2014. He retired from the military in August 2020 after serving for over 2 decades. Despite wanting to stay in Hawaii, he relocated to Eugene to serve KMTR since there were no job openings in Hawaii. While in Eugene, he jumped on the offer to work in Hawaii when a job opening at KHON in 2022 presented itself.
During his meteorology career, he has had numerous awesome experiences including doing a live weather forecast on TV from a hot air balloon. He alongside his team at the NWS’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center pursued three category four hurricanes simultaneously. However, his most thrilling encounter was flying a familiarized flight in an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet at Nellis AFBeven if it was for a short while. The Colonel who flew the aircraft gave him the chance to fly the plane before taking back control of the plane. During the flight, they flew upside-down, did barrel rolls, broke the sound barrier, and pulled upwards of 7 to 8 Gs a few times.
